Appointments at Posterngate Surgery

We understand it can be confusing to work out who you need to book an appointment with for certain problems. We have produced a leaflet for patients to give some idea of who to book in with to make things a bit easier. You can find this leaflet under 'Appointments' at the top of the page, and then in the tab 'Who to book with'.

Welcome to Posterngate Surgery Online

HYMSWe are a 6 Partner GP practice situated in purpose built premises in the centre of Selby, covering a radius of about 7 miles. We operate one branch surgery in Hemingbrough which is only open part of the week and is for patients who live at Hemingbrough or Cliffe.  For details of the branch surgery and its opening hours, please click on the 'Opening Hours' tab above.

We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.

As a practice we also take part in occasional research projects.

In addition to everything you need to know about the practice, you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the menu on the right hand side. Please have a look around the website and feel free to send us some feedback.

Influenza Vaccinations For At Risk Patients (2019/20)

If you have received a letter inviting you to have the flu injection this year, we strongly recommend that you have this important vaccine. It provides the best protection against an unpredictable virus, and it is the best overall way to protect yourself and your family from flu.

Childhood flu vaccinations

We have now been supplied with some childhood flu vaccination stock.

Public Health England have issued practices with the following advice:

Children in high risk groups from 2 to 18 years should be prioritised during the vaccination campaign

o those aged 2-3 years and age 11-18 years should be called in to surgery

o those of primary school age (4-10 years) will be invited through schools, but should be vaccinated if they choose to present in general practice

Following this guidance, we are anticipating the majority of primary school aged children to be vaccinated at their schools.

To arrange an appointment please contact the surgery.

If you wish to decline the vaccine, please contact the surgery on the telephone number above or you can email us at giving your name, address and date of birth, stating you do not wish to have the vaccine this year.

What do you know about social prescribing?

We would like to find out how many people know what social prescribing is and if you are aware of the social prescribing service in the Selby area.

Many of life’s problems can make you feel unwell. Social prescribing enables you to talk about the issues you’re facing and find the right services to support you. It is non-medical and involves a conversation with an individual about improving your health and wellbeing.

In line with data protection law, your information will remain anonymous and will only be used to implement these plans. We may share the results with the local authority, voluntary sector and other NHS organisations.
