We are open on Monday and Thursday evenings for an extended period, with two GPs and a Practice Nurse each offering appointments.

Our last appointment on Monday and Thursday is at 7.40pm and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday our last appointment is at 5.40pm.

Disabled Access

Our main surgery has full disabled access with automatic front doors and all patient services on the ground floor. There are 3 disabled parking bays within the surgery car park. For people who have mobility problems, but are not in a wheelchair, we have access to the surgery via the back door. This is kept locked, for security reasons, but there is a call system to reception and remote unlocking.

In the waiting room we have a loop system for patients using hearing aids. We also have a visual call system.

In addition, we have a portable loop which can be taken into any of the rooms for patients who have particular problems with hearing and need extra help on a 1 to 1 basis.

We regret that our branch surgery is converted from other use and does not have easy disabled access. However, our dispenser is always pleased to help, if she can.

Please note that these hours are the opening times and that surgeries do not run throughout them.

We operate appointment only surgeries, and cannot guarantee that 'Same day' or 'urgent' problems will be seen at Hemingbrough, and patients may be asked to attend Posterngate, in these circumstances.  

About the Surgery

Hemingbrough Surgery is a small branch surgery, operating for a restricted number of hours. It caters for patients registered with the Practice who live in Hemingbrough, Cliffe, South Duffield, and Cliffe Common.

We dispense medicines at the surgery for these patients. We regret that we cannot dispense to any patient for whom we do not have specific authority. Generally, this covers patients who live outside the catchment area.

Which GPs Attend?

Dr Haworth, Dr Batty and Dr Bradley-Wood run 4 surgeries a week at Hemingbrough Surgery, between them. Due to the nature of the surgery, the service we can offer is limited, and for certain problems, patients may be asked to attend the main site in Selby. Occasionally it maybe necessary for other GPs from Posterngate to run the surgeries at Heminbrough.

In addition, there is 1 Nurse Clinic weekly for dressings, blood pressure checks, blood taking etc.

Dispensing Medicines

We carry a wide variety of medicines at the surgery. However, we cannot stock everything patients might need. Therefore, if something unusual is prescribed, you may be asked to wait until we can order the medication. This usually takes no more than 1 working day. Alternatively, you can take the prescription to any pharmacy to see if they can complete your order.

We have introduced a similar system at Hemingbrough Surgery to that which we run at Posterngate for patients to order Repeat Prescriptions.

We require 1 working days notice of your requirements, in order that we can authorise, check and process your request. Requests may be made either in Hemingbrough, or at Posterngate, but items will be available to collect from Hemingbrough Surgery.

Catchment Area

To make an appointment you may contact Posterngate Surgery, or call in at the branch. We regret that we can only see patients at the branch surgeries, if they live in the appropriate catchment area.

 

When We Are Closed

The surgery is closed outside these times. If you need urgent advice and treatment when the surgery is closed, you may call the Out-of-Hours Service on 0845 0568060.

NHS Direct

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
