Care Quality Commission (CQC) Inspection

We have recently had our CQC inspection and are awaiting a full report but the verbal feedback was that they were happy with the care and services we were providing. The CQC will publish the report when it is complete and we will display the certificate they send. We would hope to get the report in February 2016.

Patient On Line Access

Gives you the option to make appointments and order repeat prescriptions and is

proving very popular. This has now been extended to viewing your summary care

record from your computer, table, or smartphone instead of ringing or visiting the

surgery. A summary record includes : medication, adverse reactions and allergies

During 2015/16 access to your electronic medical record will be widened to enable

you to view your full electronic record by 31 March 2016 should you choose to.

Access to online services demands a consistent and robust approach to ensure patient

confidentiality whilst providing you with secure access to your personal data.

Practices will, therefore, be required to verify your identity or individually vouch for

patients requiring on line access.

it is important that you, understand that you will be responsible for protecting the

information about you that you will see.

Leaflets and further information will be available on the website and in surgery very

In common with other surgeries, we are receiving an increase in volume of prescription requests.  Also, GPs are having to undertake more stringent safety checks when issuing repeat prescriptions.  It is therefore with regret that with immediate effect we require 48 working hours notice (2 days excluding weekends) from receipt of a prescription request to collection by the patient.

We recognise this will be inconvenient for some of you, but unfortunately we have no alternative.

This will also bring us in line with other surgeries as the national standard is 72 hours .

Please note, if you send a prescription request to  you will now receive an automatic reply via email which lets you know your email has been received.

Appointments at Posterngate Surgery

consultRing our main switchboard on 01757 702561 to book an appointment at either our main practice or our branch surgery.

Alternatively, you can now register at the surgery to be able to book appointments online. This is an easy process and frees up the telephone line.

Urgent problems will be seen the same day by a GP. However we cannot guarantee that you will see your usual GP or any other GP that you request.

Some appointments are available up to 10 working days in advance. These are limited in number. We stagger the availability of times after this.  If your condition is non-urgent, you can expect to see a GP within two working days. However, you may have to wait longer if you want to see a particular GP.

Nurses based in our Practice treat patients for a wide range of common conditions. You can expect to see a nurse within one working day.

We offer telephone appointments with all the clinical staff, including GPs. If you feel your problem can be dealt with over the telephone, please ask our Reception team who will be pleased to help you.

Please note that we cannot guarantee the time at which you may be called back if the member of staff is not available immediately. Please note that the surgery telephone number will appear as 'private' or 'unknown' on caller display phones.

If you arrive late for your appointment or contact us to say you will be late for an appointment, the receptionist will ask the reason and let your doctor/nurse know. The doctor/nurse will then advise whether they are able to see you. He/she will have other patients and you may have to wait to be seen. We do try to accommodate patients who arrive late, but on some occasions you may be advised to re-book your appointment for another.

Hemingbrough Surgery

Hemingbrough Surgery is a small branch surgery, operating for a restricted number of hours. It caters for patients registered with the Practice who live in Hemingbrough, Cliffe, South Duffield, and Cliffe Common.

We dispense medicines at the surgery for these patients. We regret that we cannot dispense to any patient for whom we do not have specific authority. Generally, this covers patients who live outside the catchment area.
